Feb 26, 2021 · Girard Ultra slide awning spring. I was sitting in our 2020 Anthem B yesterday and heard a noise which sounded like an uncoiling spring. Sure enough, the front driver's side slide awning was limp. I downloaded the installation manual and began taking it apart. Removed the end cap, C-clip, and locking plate. Just roll out the awning manually until you see the bare roller and install several layers of duct tape in the area where the fabric is stretched. This may take several attempts to enlarge the roller enough to make the awning close evenly, but it will happen.
