Luger markings
Jul 8, 2006 · Help with 1917 Erfurt Markings. Attached is my 1917 Erfurt shooter, matching but refinished at some point, could someone tell me what the Unit Marking stand for? 7.R.11.7. It is interesting; in that the “11” appears both under the grips and on the back side of the trigger plate. Technically, a "VoPo Luger" is a Luger that was issued to and used by the East German Volkspolizei ("VoPo"), and is identifiable as such by Volkspolizei property markings. Your Luger is not a VoPo Luger. Rather it is a Luger that was overhauled and exported from Germany after West Germany and the (former) East Germany were reunited into one nation.

Yes, by establishing the installation of the sear safety, (Schiwy Safety) it indicates that the pistol was used, at least, until the mid to late 1930's. It would also indicate, at least to me, that this is probably a 1932 marking and the pistol was probably in police use throw the war.
