As a hard steel, S30V holds its edge very ... If the S90V data sheet is any guide, the S90V wear resistance and toughness they've used for the chart in the S35VN data sheet are for S90V at 58 HRC. At the actual hardnesses the steels are run in cutlery applications (58-59.5 for S30V, ~61 for S90V), then yeah, S30V will be noticeably tougher.Jan 15, 2020 · Conclusions and Summary. CPM SPY27 is a steel produced by Crucible exclusively for Spyderco. The steel looks somewhat similar to S35VN but with increased Nb and N, decreased C and V, and a 1.5% cobalt addition. The resulting steel is expected to have similar hardness and corrosion resistance to S30V and S35VN. The difference between iron and steel is that iron is an element, and steel is an alloy of iron, small amounts of carbon and another material, usually another element like chromium. Iron is alloyed with other elements to make it stronger an...Differences Which Steel type is best in which condition? Which one is best suited for you? So without further ado… Let me walk you through this in-depth guide …In the series of steel created by Crucible, S90V is a high-end one which is more difficult to sharpen compared to S30V. Yet, S90V beats S30V in terms of resisting corrosion and toughness level. S30V vs. S110V: The S30V has a great amount of toughness and is easy to sharpen compared to S110V. However, S110V has greater edge retention ….
