Holy order ck3 - I think holy orders (and other theocracies) will probably never be playable entities in CK3. The developers have repeatedly stated that dynastic continuity is critical to the whole game system, so anything where you would need to play as a character of a different dynasty upon death is not going to happen.

Well, you can place the stronghold of a holy order to a county that you won't be directly controlling (either by succession or grant title decision), and when you control you heir (current monarch dies) you won't be the patron of that holy order. Thus you can make another one. This is someone of a nasty problem if the holy order is in a city, because you cannot the barony title directly, it doesn't show up in the list to revoke. Instead, you grant the barony title owner a county somewhere, and it will remove the barony title from them. Once that is done you can revoke the lease on the holy order.Click on the holding title and find the true owner of the barony. Grant the holder of the barony a new county title. Revoke the barony holding from the vassal. Click on the barony you want to revoke. There is now an option to revoke holy order lease. Since the Knights of Malta are just the Knights Hospitaller, if you're a Catholic the second holy order of your faith that's founded should be them.
