Yeesookyung
Composed of two words ( kin/gold and tsugi/joining), kintsugi denotes “join with gold”. I have two aims while writing this article. First, I want to explore kintsugi’s origin and its use as philosophical practise and art technique. Secondly, my goal is to reflect on c ontemporary interpretations of the art technique kintsugi.Introduction. Yeesookyung is a South Korean artist living in Seoul.She is known for her complex and enchanting ceramic designs and sculptures. Like many of her works, the Translated series series is made up of shards and fragments of broken ceramic pieces that are carefully pieced together like a jigsaw puzzle.. Yeesookyung created her Translated Vase back in 2002 after observing discarded ...When I Become You (2015). I presented two identical chandeliers in each gallery space. The chandeliers displayed many light bulbs but only one of those was blinking as if broken.
